eh? what poverty? my new online buddy sighmon recently won a World Vision’s “Learn About Poverty” blog contest. His post speaks about how we should “live simply so that others may simply live” (ghandi). it’s a great read, and gives some simple, practical ways to live simpler and in the end being freer to help others simply live. my favorite points?skateboarding to work (5 min faster than a car!, eating homemade lunches (saves $8 a day), wears warmer clothes and setup partitions at home (less heating), budgets out savings at the beginning of each month (managing 30%!), and automatically debits charity donations (at 2.5%, working towards 5%). he says at the end of the month he more money left over do to donate to support the people who have less and are living in tough conditions around the world. it also allows him to work less and spend much more time to do creative things and be with friends and his girlfriend more and gives him time to clear his mind, which has led to less stress and a generally happier lifestyle. great job simon, simple inspiration to us all.
